Religious Zeal Drives Congregant to Murder
New Mystery Novel Puts Rabbi at Center of the Action
Could the relentless pursuit of a religious commitment undertaken in a time of bereavement lead an otherwise upstanding man to kill?
In her new cozy mystery,Murder at the Minyan, Shulamit E. Kustanowitz takes us into a Conservative Jewish congregation in a New Jersey suburb, where a mourner translates the congregation’s difficulty in providing a daily quorum for prayer into a plan for murder. The plot unfolds as the rabbi helps his congregants with life cycle situations and works to unite the different religious strains in the community in a Thanksgiving brotherhood service.
